RAID Cave 2 Diver: take your cave diving further
After Cave 1, you have a foundation in cave diving. In the RAID Cave 2 course, you build on that experience to plan and carry out more complex dives. You refine your navigation, line procedures and teamwork while continuing to focus on gas management and protecting the fragile cave environment.
What will you learn in Cave 2?
Cave 2 challenges you to make considered decisions when the route becomes more complex. You will practise:
Complex navigation involving T intersections, jumps and gaps.
Planning and conducting circuits and traverses where the dive site and conditions allow.
Placing, following and repairing guidelines in zero visibility.
Developing your procedures for entanglement and assisting a teammate.
Gas planning, communication and decision making during more complex cave dives.
The exercises build on the skills you developed in Cave 1. The aim is to maintain awareness, work with your team and find your way to the exit when something unexpected happens.
Stage cylinders and decompression
The course may also include the use of a stage cylinder. This involves more than carrying an additional cylinder: you need to understand its placement, gas management and effect on the dive plan. Using a stage cylinder for extended penetration or decompression depends on the required additional training and certifications.
Who is this course for?
This course is intended for divers who hold a RAID Cave 1 certification or a recognised equivalent and have gained independent cave diving experience since their initial training. Before the course, we will review your certifications, logged dives and experience against the current RAID entry requirements.
If you have not completed Cave 1 yet, explore our RAID Cave 1 course first.
Where does the course take place?
Practical training can take place in France, Spain or Mexico. We will discuss your experience, equipment and goals beforehand so we can choose a suitable training plan and location.
